SC for indeandent SIT to probe Laddu issue
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Friday ordered constitution of an independent SIT with five members to inquire into the allegations of usage of adulterated ghee in the famous Tirupathi Laddu issue. It said two members from CBI, two from AP government and one from FSSAI should be the members of the team.
An inquiry was held in the Supreme Court on the allegations of the usage of adulterated ghee for the preparation of the Tirumala Srivari Laddu Prasadam. A bench comprising Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Viswanathan heard the case and passed the orders.
Earlier, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta gave his opinion to the Supreme Court on behalf of the Central Government. “I have looked into the whole matter. There are no doubts about the SIT members. If the allegations are true, they are not acceptable. Tirumala deity has devotees all over the country. If there is supervision by a senior Central official, more confidence will increase in the team,” he said.
